Starbucks is still going to make macadamias, but will not be selling them in stores, a spokesperson told CNNMoney.
Macadamia is the popular name for a kind of nut used in making coconut milk.
The company said it was still working with its suppliers and suppliers were “not happy” with the way the nut was packaged and sold.
“We will continue to work with our suppliers to make sure we are providing the best products, but we’re not going to move forward with the macaramias and we’ll continue to serve our customers as we always have,” Starbucks said.
McDonald’s has been the most prominent company to reject the company’s policy.
“The Macadamia Nut is not a part of our current menu and will not go on our menu in the future,” the chain said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Starbucks also changed its policy on its menu, saying it would not sell macadams to anyone who had been convicted of a crime related to cannabis use.
